My computer will not browse server, Event 12317 error ?

My Symantec backups failed saying no mountable volume found on D: drive when I try to open my computer icon to see D: drive it is not responding, I can RUN D:\ to get drive D: and user drive maps to shares still work. also the server seems very slow. I get this error in the event logs;

Event 12317 File Server Resource Manager failed to enumerate share paths or DFS paths.  Mappings from local file paths to share and DFS paths may be incomplete or temporarily unavailable.  FSRM will retry the operation at a later time.

Error-specific details:
   Error: NetShareEnum, 0x80070842, The Server service is not started.

So far I checked the local user account is a member of the Authenicated user group. Any suggestions?

have you checked to make sure all relevant services are running?

Start->Run->services.msc

Maybe you accidentally disabled something to speed it up but it was required (or there is an install/config error and the service is failing to start). Not sure which service controls it, ill post back if i find it

All automatic services are running.  I also  tried HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SrmSvc\Settings\DisableSearchDfs to 1 and this did not help,

Download and run tweakui from microsoft and check the drives area (not autoplay) and make sure that its appearing, and not hidden from the user.
