Dell 6224 Powerconnect startup configurations

Hello there;

I really need someone to help me with this as I really need help.

I have new Switch and I like to set the web management interface on it with the following config:

- Create a new vlan
- Set the web management interface to be on port 24
- Add port 24 to the new vlan
- Setup IP Address, subnet mask and Getaway for the web management interface on port 24




PLEASE ANSWER THE ONES WITH QUESTION MARKS:


1. create a vlan  ie: 20

 console#configre
console#vlan database
console#vlan 20
console#exit

2. Select port 24

interface ethernet 1/g24

3. set ip Address, Subnet mask and getway on port 24

???

4. make port24 part of the vlan

switchport access vlan 20

Are you sure you can pin the Web Server to a specific physical port?  You can certainly set the TCP port  the Management Service listens on by ip http port or ip https port

I found the answer on my own; you can only configure IP Address and subnet mask on vlan and not on a specific port . so what I had to do is to create a vlan and set the IP Address /subnet mask on it. then add the port to that vlan.

[nsole#configre

console(config)#interface ethernet 1/g24

console(config-if-1/g24)#switchport access vlan 30
Warning: The use of large numbers of VLANs or interfaces may cause significant
delays in applying the configuration./code]
