Is the server recognizing the disk at the BIOS / Controller level?
losip

What model of ProLiant server is it?

Yes, it does recognize it at the BIos level. HP Prolian DL380G

Did you rescan storage from the VMware Client?

yes I did

Can you post a screenshot of the storage pane in VMware Client?

Yes. Not sure if this is what you're looking for... Scrn shot one Scrn shot two

That's what I was looking for.

So I assume the 930GB logical volume is what you had before?

Have you gone into the storage controller and created a new logical volume?

Yes, we still have it, but as you can see it's just about used up. I'm trying to add more storage space. SO, i purchased another disk (Array), put it in and it's not seeing it.  Tried.. but It wasn't recognizing that I even had any addl disks. I was told that I had to go into the server to configure it to recognizeit, but I couldn't find where to do that.
This is the best money I have ever spent. I cannot not tell you how many times these folks have saved my bacon. I learn so much from the contributors.

Tried that.  I tried F8 ,F9 Ctrl -S  I went into all of them. Didn't see anything that mentioned any type of Array set-up or Array Configuation, or RAID Configuration.

I did not try F10... because I didn't see a prompt that said I could push F10 to do anything. Is it something hidden?

Do you know what Smart Array version you have?

NO. How do I find that?
ASKER
royalone67

IS that specific with the server brand?
Member_2_4940386

It's HP specific, but different HP servers have different controllers.  In Windows, go to Device Manager, and then SCSI and RAID controllers, and you shold see "Smart Array" (something).  For instance "HP SmartArray 6i" or "HP SmartArray P400i."

I will try that..

You are right, I forgot we were doing ESX servers.

SmartStart may be a good idea, if you are not familiar.  It runs you through the process through a GUI.

Yes. hanccocka.. can you send the steps, because I used Smartstart and it didn't help.  It see's the Array with the DIsk I put into it. But, there must be a reason why it's not seeing it in the client infrastructure to  add a storage. wow
