You can start with these demos:

More:

and ... Easily create your own Windows-like custom menus. Everything you need is here - no code ... see this link:  (this is my preferred method)

Not sure it that article mentions it, but ... when you are in the Customize mode (dialog) ... if you hold down the Control key, you can drop and drag (ie, copy) menu items from one place to another ... handy for making a new menu that is similar another one.

thanks for the links but I am looking for free ones that I can improve myself. thanks
Sorry ... I would suggest in addition to posting here ... you do a Google search ...

Check in the Microsoft Office folder. You should have a copy of Northwind, it's a sample database from Microsoft.

I googled and saw those demos, and I am looking for a sample with switchboard. Northwind doesn't have one.
Actually, Northwind A2003 does have a switchboard ... the Access built-in switchboard.

However, I would suggest you look at creating your own custom Windows pro looking menus and toolbars using the codeless, easy technique in the link I provided above http://www.jamiessoftware.tk/articles/menubars.html   (free)

Are not there any samples with switchboard? simple one with few tables and forms to start with?
Again ...  Northwind sample DB in A2003 and prior ... and most like A2007/10 has this.

mx
If you don't have a copy of Northwind on your computer, you cand download it from Microsoft. It's free and it has a switchboard, tables, forms, queries and reports.

And I can upload NW 2003 if you need it ... ?

I need a simple db that I can brush my old exprience. I have used access 2003 and want to get a simple one to start with access 2007.

northwind has too much data and object.
Also tried some of those templates but did not find a switchboard. which one has it? does it  have a different name.
Sorry, I'm out of ideas.  NW has switchboard.  Can't speak for the other templates.

Go to the link I posted above. Select the "Demo Management Database." It opens with a simple switchboard.

ok, I used the student db template from microsoft and adjusted to what I want. I have added student_cases table and query, but could not get it to work with form and report.

basically how I can connnect page case to show on the form (for studentCases).
and as well on the report, I want to just view the report grouped by student on the report for studentCases.

note that both the report and the form used for studentCases were both a form and report for something else on the template. thanks.

I had to modify the form a little as it wasn't reading special circumstances.value. Basically what I did was to copy one of the macros and then change the report name to stdent cases. I then copied a switchboard button and label and changed those values accordingly. If you compact and repair before uploading you'll save a little time :)

Flyster,
thanks for that where is the circumstances.value located. I want to remove that condition or change to cases instead. thanks!
You'll have to explain what you're trying to achive with cases. Do you want to group on Status? Followup?? Notes???

I want to group on status. The template has the circumstances.value which I don't know where is it located. thanks
Here it is, grouped by status.

Thank you Flyster,
just last question: where is the parameter value coming from for student on the form student details. If you just let me where it is coming from as I have changed several things and I need to change that.

that value pops up when opening: student details - form
Open your form in design mode and select the Cases tab. Then highlight your subform (Attendance), right click and select properties. Under the Data tab you have "Student" under the link child field. It should be Student_ID. Make the change and your parameter query goes away!
