Need outlook express to open .EMAIL extension attachments

I'm trying to help someone open attachments coming as .email with Outlook Express on XP.  I assume that he can open .eml attachments, but is getting attachments from a contact as .email.

I don't have access to a system with OE;  I noticed that on my own system, extension .EML is associated to Thunderbird,

How can I set the default .EMAIL extension to be the same? On my own machine I don't see any way I can set the File Type to "Thunderbird Document" under File Types. (I have to browse to a file type.)

It would be simple for me copy the registry entries I have for .EML to .EMAIL, but I'm not the one who needs it, so hopefully there's an easier way. So, I am mainly interested in doing this without editing the registry. Is there anyway to set the file type for .EMAIL to "Outlook Express Document".

Open up Explorer  (not IE) , goto Tools , Folder Options.

Click on File Type and look for .email

click advance and change open to Outlook Express.

I had assumed that since my setup was "Thunderbird Document" that he needed something called "Outlook Express Document".  So changing it to just "Outlook Express" will work then?

Actually, I haven't asked him to check his settings for .EML.  Will do that now!

No, his setting for .EML is Outlook Express Email Message.  That's what .EMAIL should be set to. How can I set it to Outlook Express Email Message? It's not an executable he can browse to and select.
