email windows live update

Just wondered if anyone has updated to this version of windows live email client from the older version, I tried to update but found the new version really difficult to use, e.g I usually copy and save business emails to a seperate folder before sending the originals out, I'm not by any means a computer wiz but can usally find the copy button in the email program, in the new version I couldn't find anything. Can someone just confirm either I'm a thicky or this update is brown and very smelly with a fly buzzing around it.

Thanks very much.....

Not sure what you mean by updating from the "older version", whether you are talking about the previous version of Windows Live Mail, or Vista's Windows Mail, or XP's Outlook Express.

Anyway, I find the program quite easy to use.  Microsoft has some help pages on its Windows Live site, but this site seems to have a better organized set of help articles on WLM:

Hi,

Sorry for not been too clear.

I'm using win7 and the update is to the live mail email software, I used to use previously outlook express, but windows7 had its own
version a bit like it, windows live  update changed the look and style and it looks like to me there is no way to easily copy an email to a folder of your choice, which
I admit is a bit hard to believe, that's why I thought it was me been a bit thick, I just wanted a second opinion from someone else who was using the same software.

Thanks

well, for example, to copy an email to another folder:  if you have your message list pane open, you want to copy one of its messages to another folder, then all you have to do is click on the item you want to copy to select it, then click on the "Copy to" icon in the "ribbon", which will open up a window showing all the folders you can copy it to (such as Junk email, Deleted Items, Saved Mail), then click on the folder to be copied to, and click on the OK button.  There is a New Folder button if you want to create another folder for the destination.

I usually MOVE rather than copy an email from the message list pane into whatever folder I want to save it in, so I have created a number of subfolders under Saved Mail, and then I just drag the email from the message list pane into the subfolder destination on the left pane.
Your help has saved me hundreds of hours of internet surfing.

Hi,

Ye I do know that, what I was saying is there doesn't seem to be anyway of moving or copying an email, no were could I find any copy button on or not on a panel or any left click method to copy an email, are you using win7 email live updated version?

LeeTutor

Yes, here is a screenshot attached to this comment.  Note the Copy to icon on the Home tab under Actions, at the top right.

Thanks very much, doesn't look anything like the update I got, but I can see the copy & move icons straight away, so I guess I'll download the update again
and give it another go.

Thanks for the help..

Sorry forgot to ask one last Q, I guess you can also left to click on an email as you could before to get a box list option of tasks.?
also you can send copy save or attach direct from the top bar of the actual email you are working on

Thanks again

> I guess you can also left to click on an email as you could before to get a box list option of tasks.?

I presume you mean "right click", not "left to click".  Yes, that is correct.

>also you can send copy save or attach direct from the top bar of the actual email you are working on

If by "top bar", you mean the "ribbon", yes you can copy and save the email.  The "send" is accomplished by a button inside the window containing the email, to the left of the "To:" and "Subject" lines.  "Attach file" is a button on the "ribbon" inside the email window.

Have you now downloaded the latest Windows Live Mail?   Is your question answered?

Hi,

Just updated to the new version again, everything is ok, only problem is I use alot of  template emails which I cannot
copy as the program seems not to let me copy a newly opened email to another folder, a bit strange, I'll have to think of a way round that one,
previously you could copy a newley opened email to any folder from the top bar within the new email itself or from using right click on the email,
looks like this is not possibly now?

Thanks again,

Hi Sorry,

Not sure what you mean, I just said I updated the software and it was ok apart from the software will not let me copy or move anything from a newly opened email?  I've not got nay problems except that?

Thanks again for your help.

Hi,

Apologises for any confusion coursed, I did update the email client win live and as you said it does have a means to copy emails to folders, but sadly not
from a newly opened email, its very arkward to get a way round this, you simply cannot copy a newly opened email from the email itself. I will probably
take my pc back to the old version via a restore point.

But thanks for all your help.
