About a month ago I was having issues logging into mysql and I learned that mysql checks both the username and the client host to determine if the user should be granted access. Well I though I got around this issue by granting access to <username>@% so that it wouldn't matter which host the user is connecting from. But now I'm running into the access denied issue from another machine and I think the host name in the permissions has something to do with it.
