Lync 2010 / Office Communication Server

Hi,

Currently I have a domain environment with server 2003 r2 and Exchange 2007 SP3.

Also have 5 telephone lines from the telephone company and a PBX setup with meridian phones.

I was wondering what is needed if I want to setup my own office communication server or lync 2010 if I upgrade to Exchange 2010.

With that will we be able to eliminate phones and use the office communicator to make calls out?

Please guide how will the server go out on phone lines etc.

I am not familiar with this technology so please guide.
Thanks
