Best Antivirus

Please tell me what would be the best antivirus nowadays. We have small office and 30 - 50 users we have. There is no server installed in office. All users are using laptop and using internet via wireless router. Some users are using Win XP, Some Win Vista and Some are using Win 7. Budget is not an issue for purchasing.

For small business I would recommend

Kaspersky Business Space
BitDefender Small Office
ESET NOD32
Lee W, MVP

This question is asked probable once per week ...

My response, especially when the request is "what is the best antivirus" is usually to ask back what the best flavor of Ice-cream is.  There is no best.  And frankly, they all stink.  10 years ago, they covered 99% of the viruses out there and if you ran one, you were reasonably certain to be safe.  Today... they catch about 80% of the stuff out there.  Maybe product x does 82% and product y does 78%, but the bottom line is, if they aren't 99% they stink.

That said, something is better than nothing.  And what's good today could be eclipsed tomorrow - or have a bug in the next definition update that crashes everything.  So I keep that in mind... anyway, I recommend and install VIPRE Enterprise for my clients.  Inexpensive and among the better ones based on my experience.  Still, I don't think it comes close to 99% protection, but it's ok...

I would stay away from Symantec - they are a FANTASTIC, OUTSTANDING - THE BEST - MARKETING company - their antivirus product was designed and written by monkeys though.  (well, not really, but I think more highly of monkeys than their programmers).  They one day become a good product, but I've had FAR too many negative experiences with Symantec products over the years to trust my network to them... even if the next release (or the current one) is incredibly stable, at this point, I'd need to NOT HEAR ANYTHING BAD for at least 5 years before I'll give them a 5th chance.  (Every major virus outbreak I've had to clean has been "protected" by Symantec... and now they are apparently cheating their customers - see: http://it.slashdot.org/story/10/12/03/1727214/Antivirus-Firms-Short-Changing-Customers?from=rss

I've had sporadic other products tested and most have an issue SOMEWHERE... NOD32 was over aggressive and missed things... AVG missed things... McAfee missed things and was resource intensive (and expensive)... VIPRE's been good... not great...but good.
