how do I get an SBS 2003 server to deliver email from an IMAP user?

I've configured one of my Exchange users to connect via imap. The test message in Outlook shows a success for both send and receive, but when I attempt to send an actual email to an outside domain, the message never arrives in the target inbox.

this is a comprehensive doc on setting up IMAP for SBS 2003. My guess is you have not setup the IMAP4 virtual server properly.

thanks, Michael! I went through the steps, but still not working. I also restarted both the IMAP and SMTP services. When I go to Message Tracking in ESM, it only sees emails sent to recipients within the organization.

the box for allowing authenticated users to relay wasnt checked, so I checked it, then restarted SMTP. Still no joy.
Are you seeing any related errors in the App log? You should be seeing an error when a user fails to relay, and it may give us a clue to why it's being rejected.
Have you set the IMAP account up to say "my sending server requires authentication" ?
thanks for the suggestions, I'll follow up in the next couple days. Thanks again!
this got me going in the right direction. I had checked the wrong box on the relay setting when I first attempted this solution. Once I checked the box allowing all authenticated computers to relay, plus enabling a NAT rule on my SonicWall, email functioned normally. I received additional help through Microsoft as a registered partner. Thanks for all the great suggestions!
