Raid 5 will not extend volume in 2008

I have a 2008 server using a Promise 8350ex  Raid 5 using 7 2tb drives. This all works fine right now. So I added another 2tb drive, this migrated just fine into the array.

So I went into disk manager in 2008 to extend the volume like I did with the other 3 drives and they worked fine.

But this time when extending the volume in 2008 I get a message that says "there is not enough space available on the disk(s) to complete this operation"

Not sure why I'm getting this.

You're not trying to extend the volume size above the MBR limit of 2 Tb are you?  Or is the disk already a GPT disk?

It is a GPT disk

Asking obvious questions time: -

1. Are you sure the new drive is part of the array and not a hot spare
2. I take it the free space is showing up under disk manager for you to try and extend the volume.

out of interest, can you create a new partition in the free space (this will confirm the OS can see the additional space and it's valid).

I got it to work. I did a rescan of the disk and now it added it.
