How can I get vCenter Converter to access the admin$?
I am attempting to use VMWare "vCenter Standalone Converter Standalone client" to convert a Windows XP Pro computer on my network to a VMWare Workstation 7 compatible Virtual Machine.
1. I open the app and choose "Convert Machine"
2. The "Source Type" is "Powered on Machine"
3. Remote Machine is the only available source so I type in the IP Address of the system, the user name (administrator) and the password and select Windows as OS family.
4. Click Next and the Agent Deployment window opens
5. Choose Automatically uninstall files when import succeeds and click Yes
When I do all that I get the following error code: Insufficient permissions to connect to 'IP ADDRESS\ADMIN$.
I have also attempted to use another account with Administrative rights but that too fails.
I checked the Admin$ rights but since that is a system level share I couldn't see nor do anything with it. Any idea's as to what I need to do, or where I am failing?

I apologize for not taking better care of this problem. I was reassigned to something more pressing and forgot about it.
Alreadyinuse I don't have the machines up right now to check, but if I cannot see the $admin share, what do I need to do?

I gave up trying to do this over the network. I simply downloaded the ISO to burn the vCenter converter tool's bootable CD. This worked just great. My thanks to those who took the time to respond.

The suggestions made by alreadyinuse and pschakravarthi did seem to indicate the reason for my issue, but I was not able to resolve the problem. Instead I found a work around, ie a bootable disk that is designed to do the same thing from a seperate GUI.
My thanks to you both for your attempts at helping me along.

But either way, no I am not able to access the admin$ share even through network authentication attempts.
