AIX print queues constantly going down

I recently rerouted all my aix traffic from one server over to a pt to pt T1 line because our telnet sessions were continuously dropping on the Comcast business internet line. Now I have a couple printer queues constantly going DOWN. No clue why. They are Lexmark impact using DLink print servers. When the queues go to a DOWN state, I can still ping them. My software vendor is convinced it's a network problem but I'm even sure where to start looking. I run qadm -U to bring them up but it's happening too frequently. Is there a script that could run continuously to bring up DOWN printers? I'm not a programmer or an aix expert! Thanks.

Aix has not changed over years https:#a34405130
I think the previous statement by gheist should rather read "AIX' _native printing technology_ hasn't changed ...". Other things have!
Anyway, since it's indeed true that nothing has changed in that aspect the answers

and

are still valid as well.
