speech recognition (mp3 to text)
I'm looking at Dragon Dictate and similar software. I'm wondering if these can take an mp3 file and convert it to text. I have a one-hour recorded lecture that I would like to create a manuscript of.
Maybe there is also some online format that I can upload the mp3 and it will return the text.
I'm using MAC OS X 1.6
Thanks

I'm looking for a computerized transcription, not a human one. Something similar to

It doesn't seem like the original poster read my comment very thoroughly, as it is 100% technically correct and, I believe, quite helpful.
Dragon makes wonderful speech recognition software. Having said that, it is best to (a) take the software through a lengthy "training" period of getting to know your voice by reading provided text, then (b) use the same microphone configuration to input your audio for conversion to text. I see no indication that Dragon Dictate accepts audio files for input, and even if it did, I would recommend using a high quality desktop or headset microphone, as opposed to a microphone that one might use for public speaking.
For the task at hand, I would recommend trying an audio transcription service such as Cripton, Datalyst, or Same Day Transcriptions.
Good Luck!
