Fresh download of messages after deleting Exchange mail on Mac

I have an exchange account and am using Mac Mail to view it.  For some reason, my sent folder doesn't have any messages after June 2009.  Although, when I view it from other mail clients and outlook web access, I can see those files.  I've already tried to sync the folder and nothing changes.

I wanted to try deleting the account and starting a fresh download of all my messages.  But when I add the account, it doesn't take very long (it's a very large mailbox) and it's in the same state as it was before.  I have a feeling it's using a cached copy of the mailbox.  I've deleted the Exchange-mymailbox-name from ~/Library/Mail/, but I still have the same results.

Any help would be appreciated.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You will probably want to purge (perhaps move/rename instead of deleting, for safety's sake) ~/Library/Caches/Mail and retest.  Let me know, and good luck.
