Exchange 2010 - Distribution Groups
Hi Everyone,
I've set up a whole bunch of Distribution Groups in Exchange 2010. Is there some way to have auto-responses for the groups, such as "Out of Office" type responses in Outlook? I'd hate to have to set them all up as regular users with Outlook profiles just for this purpose.
Thanks,
Theo

The way I'd do it is to create a mailbox and then forward this mailbox to a distribution group and use the OOF of the mailbox.
Using transport rules would work but could lead to mail loops

But since this is not the solution you are looking for you could try to write a transport rule watch for email sent to the DL, and log an event that includes the sender's address. Then you'd need a scheduled task, triggered by that event that would run a script to send the notification email.
