Terminal service not working by domain name

I have a server that users access through remote desktop using server.domainname.com:3389
and I had to rebuild the server and now I can only access the server from the public IP and port number.

does anybody have any idea what I got to do to fix the issues and access the server
server.domainname:3389 if I do a nsloockup I can see it resolve to a public IP but cannot access server

I had a 2008 server running an accouting software that was used mostly remote users. the users would remote desktop to example servername.domainname.com:3389 from outside our domain. the internal users just remote desktop using the serve name. this is a vmware server and it started to have many registry issues to a built another server gave it the same name as the previous and same Ipaddress.
everthing the same we got a new certificate from godaddy we setup the TS manager configuration. everthing works ok multiple people can access the server at the same time. but it can only be reached by using the public ip :3389.
