I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Not if your iPhone is using SSL to talk to the Exchange Server.  if it is using HTTP not HTTPS, then there is a danger of information being gleamed via any connection point.

Specifically contacts.  Is there a danger of a copy being made of your contacts.

The only connection Im using is gmail. (I dont care about the contacts in gmail its the contacts in the phone im concerned about)

If yes, Is there any firewall SW to protect the phone from this?

Can't answer about the contacts on the iphone itself (although I suspect it is hackable), but if you are using gmail through public wifi connections you should switch gmail to https mode (a setting in gmail itself).

If you don't access gmail through https your gmail password is easily grabbed from the connection point giving full access to your gmail account - so be careful.

Unless you have some REALLY important VIP contacts...who cares if somebody gets your list?  Aunt Peggy's email address and phone number is pretty much worthless to anyone but you.

I believe GMAIL is now SSL by default now.  You have to disable its use to be unsecure.

...who cares if somebody gets your list?  Well I do or I wouldt have posted a question.

I was wondering was there a firewall for iphones.

I am not aware of any firewall software for an iPhone via the App Store.  If you have a jailbroken iPhone, then there is a Firewall App available called Firewall IP.
