CISCO ROUTERS & SWITCH LAYER 2/3 & VOIP

Hi I have the following routers:

3550 Layer 3 switch
- ios - C3550-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEB4/C3550-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEB4.bin - NOT SURE WHY it repeats twice in line??
65526k/8192
384k flash
config reg - 0x10f

2600xm router
- ios - C2600-i-mz.122-15.T7.bin
2650xm (MPC860P) 126976K/4096 memory
32 nvram
32768 flash memory
config reg - 0X2142

2950 12 port Layer 2 switch
- ios C2950-i6q412-mz.121_19.EA1c.bin

2950 24 port Layer 2 switch
- ios C2950-i6k212q4-mz.121.22.EA4.bin

spare ios's:
switch 2950 type:
- ios - C2950-i6q412-mz.121-22.EA6.bin

router 2600 type
- ios - C2600-adventerprisek9-mz.124.2.T
- ios - C2600-advsecurityk9-mz.124-9.T1
- ios - C2600-ipvoicek9-mz.124.4.T1
- ios - C2600-jk9o3s-mz.123-13

layer 3 - 3550 switch type
- ios - C3550-i5q312-mz.121-22.EA2 - I used this version of ios on my ccnp course

2. can all spare ios's be used on my hardware stated?
3. which ios of 2600 is most upto date? - I think it is - C2600-advsecurityk9-mz.124-9.T1 - ?
4. do all most upto date ios's hold all features/functionality of all old ios's?
5. which ios from the spare should i install on my hardware or not?

Im currently doing practicals for ccnp.
Im also ensuring all ios's are upto date as much as they can be so later once bought extra equipment can do ccna but specifically the voip part.  Hence buying the 2600xm router!

Hi,

You can chuck the 2900 switches, they are useless for your purposes.

The 2600's may be ok as long as they got at least two fast ethernet interfaces.

IOS revision is irrelevant, as it is only good for when you are trying to fix a bug.  As long as you are on 12.4 you are set. The 'T' train is also not that important for you, as it is mostly for voice-related applications. The 'T' ones have experimental / not fully tested features such as SIP / H323 etc.

For CCNP adv enterprise is what you need. If you are really keen on the newest version, to date it is 12.4.25d(MD) for your 2600 routers.

One more suggestion - you will need 3560 type of a switch for your practices, 3550 is not enough.
Also, as opposed to acquiring all of this hardware I suggest using dynamips on a linux platform (if you dont have a quad-core machine, you can run your simulations on 2-3 less powerfull machines).

I done my CCIE 95% on dynamips simulator.
