hi
As you know, Directory Service Restore Mode can work only when the machine is windows based Domain controller. But could you please tell me what this the clue or reason to keep this option in windows XP machine? when you will boot your PC in safe mode by F8 key then you can see this option as well.

Directory Service Restore Mode: This mode is valid only for Windows-based domain controllers. This mode performs a directory service repair

hi
is because standard boot loader.
Yes - its just a feature of the boot loader - it does nothing in XP
I think this is just by design.

As KCTS said, it serves no purpose & its only for domain controller not for member server & can't think of reason why its been provided in boot loader.
Hello,

I agree with KCTS. Windows XP is a client operating system.

It haven't the feature of active directory. Active Directory is the feature of server operating system.
