VM Ware Workstation Copy

Hi,

What is the correct way to copy a VMWare workstation?

I want to copy a VM running on one physical machine, and install it with a different Computer Name in a VMWare Workstation session on a different machine.

My goal is to create a new VM with all of the operating system settings, and installed applications on the existing one.

They will be in the same Domain, so I wonder what conflict I will experience before I have a chance to enter assign a unique ip to the new machine?  I suppose I could temporarily change the ip in the copied machine before proceeding with the copy, and then set it back before setting up the new machine?

Thanks in advance,

Ariel

Hi Bawer,

The main file for the VM has a .vmdk extension.

Is this what you mean?  This is the file I would copy if I was going to just move the machine.
