asked on

can you run 2 dhcp servers and a split scope with sbs 2008

I'm trying to set up a split dhcp scope, 50/50 between sbs 2008 and backup server 2008 domain controller. At first it seems to work and both DHCP servers are running and handing out leases. But when I come back to it the dhcp server on the sbs 2008 server has stopped running. The event viewer complains that this computer running windows server 2003 for small business server has encountered another server on this network with the ip address of the other dhcp server. The trick here is that it's not an sbs 2003 server. At one time there was an sbs 2003 server in the network, but there was a migration upgrade to a new server on new hardware years ago. Again both existing servers are running 2008, one sbs, and the other just server.

Hmm.... There may be some remainder of the other server in Active Directory.

Are both servers Authorized correctly in Active Directory?
