asked on

stockfetcher line numbers

We have a wordpress page here at where a person takes a particular script finding discussion, and adds that discussion to this page.   The page has been useful to folks that don't want to comb the forums for it.  What we want to do is provide line numbers for reference.  The only problem now is that content will change and therefore, so would the numbers.  It is necessary to keep the discussion with the scripts being written here.  I'm somewhat afraid of a more robust script sharing solution because I don't want to spend alot of time developing it.  Scope creep comes into play here.   All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

can you explain alittle more on what you are trying to do?
If your host has cPanel, you can add the entropy search by adding a file to your websites root folder and putting this code in the page, or template where you want the search to show up:

The Code:
<form action="/cgi-sys/entropysearch.cgi" target=searchwindow>
Search Query <input type="text" name="query" value="">
<input type="hidden" name="user" value="database user name here">
<input type="hidden" name="basehref" value="your website URL HERE">
<input type="hidden" name="template" value="default">
<input type="submit" value="Search">

Open in new window

You also have the ability to Edit the Search Results Template.

With that method, won't the numbers change as new content is added and old content is subtracted or changed?
I am not sure how much control you have over it. I just started with it the other day.

I'm not completely sure how to implement your suggestion.  I tried today with no luck.  This is what my control panel looks like >>

Can you provide some instructions on how to:
1) Add your suggestion the control panel
2. Add your code suggestion to the Wordpress page at

I'd sure hate to go through all that and have it NOT do what I want.  I want to add static line numbers to the stockfetcher page.  If you could provide a step-by-step I sure would be grateful.

I could never make this solution work but do see some plug-ins to try that claim to add line numbers.  Not sure how important it is at this stage.  Thank you for trying.
