Need help using fdisk to expand a partition / filesystem.

I have a disk that has one partition on it that covers half the disk - the other half is free and has not been partitioned. Evident ally you can use fidsk to expand the partition to cover the entire disk and then grow the filesystem to cover the entire disk. It goes something like:

Open the disk in fdisk
Delete the exsistion partition
Create a new one that covers the entrie partition
write out the partition
quit fdisk and then grow the fifle system.

Can any of this be done mounted with ext3?

Have you tried GParted?

http://gparted.sourceforge.net/

Bootable CDs are available.  I used it when I had an issue.

ext3 is in the list for available formats to mess with.

This is for a server with no gui.... I really need to know the fdisk way in this particular case.
Dale HarrisProfessional Services EngineerCommented:
Well if your server has no gui, you can still use GParted as it's a separate boot environment.

If you use FDisk and delete the existing partition, you will lose all of your data.
