I have a disk that has one partition on it that covers half the disk - the other half is free and has not been partitioned. Evident ally you can use fidsk to expand the partition to cover the entire disk and then grow the filesystem to cover the entire disk. It goes something like:

Open the disk in fdisk
Delete the exsistion partition
Create a new one that covers the entrie partition
write out the partition
quit fdisk and then grow the fifle system.

Can any of this be done mounted with ext3?
