You need to see if Microtek has Windows 7 drivers for it. Scanner manufacturers often do not provide new drivers for older equipment.

The other thing you can try is to plug it in and see if any of the Microsoft tools (including Office) can see it. That might work. ... Thinkpads_User

Microtek doesn't appear to have Windows 7 drivers for the ScanMaker 6800
Plus and play doesn't do it
I have an HP Scanner that was not supported past XP SP1. Now that my computers are entirely Windows 7 (64-bit) I have to replace it. ... Thinkpads_User
This does not answer my question.
Microtek didnt update its drivers for Win7, you may be able to run it in compatible mode or on a WinXP virtual drive.

try vuescan (not free) : http://www.hamrick.com/
you can always scan from paint>file>import from scanneer - if the scanner did install properly (check in device manager)

note that many older hardware cannot be used on newer OS'es

Sorry - I thought I was clear: You will have to replace your scanner because it is not going to work natively in Windows 7.  ... Thinkpads_User
