How to fix USB Port and Cd Rom Drive for a Sony PVC-70

Hi All,

I have a Sony PCV-70.  The OS is Windows 2000.  It can not read CD's nor anything from the USB Ports.  When I insert a CD Rom, it recognizes that it is there however, it will not display the contents of the CD or play the CD.  The message it gives it "The device is not ready".

The USB not not recognize anything.  It shipped with Windows 95 and has been upgraded to 2000.

Thanks for any hep that anyone may have.

Thanks,
Jus

In this case, I would suspect the USB Driver causing of it, you may have a try with :

http://www.driverguide.com/
or try deleting the usb drivers, reboot then let it find the drivers again. same for the CD drive, maybe that will work, if not, i suspect the cd drive is broken and the motherboard may also be dying. Since the computer is that old, it may be time to replace it.
You can get a laptop with a busted screen for <$100
just swap your good screen to the new unit. (about 15 min you can youtube it)
