Managing Sales/Ads/Marketing Email Lists

We've been managing our list of marketing emails manually, e.g., removing someone from oujr distribution list when they request it.  Do any of you manager yours via Filemaker, website, or some other program, or do you just farm it out to a service?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Thanks, I'll eventually give you full credit for the response because you answered my basic question, but I tested Smart Serial Mail and it doesn't allow you to attach the document as text directly into the email itself.  We don't want our ad to go as an attachment because less people will open it.  Does listserv or another sw allow that?
Not sure what you are trying to do, but Smart Serial Mail supports HTML formating which is what most of the major places like "Constant Contact" use.

We want the content of the html advertisement to be pasted directly into the SmartMail email.  Currently, it does not do that, but possibly it will with the full version.  However, this is a deal breaker for us, so we have to be sure that the file doesn't just show up as an icon attachment, but the recipient immediately sees the content of the file directly in their email.
I have not used the mass mailing for a while, but I think you had to create the HTML in the program rather than paste it in working from the templates screen

Working it out with the creator's customer support, but they say that I can paste html text directly into the body of the email.
