Exchange System manager queue

In 2003 Exchance System Manager, there is a blue down arrow next to "Queues" and within there I have an Exchange MTA queue folder
listing that appears to be down because it shows an asterisk next to it. Mail was not flowing earlier in the day
but is now, but the blue down arrow is still there. So I believe there is still a problem that is still lurking.
When I highlight the Exchange MTA listing I get a message in the "Additional queue information box that states:
Exchange System manager failed to retrieve queues for the x400 protocol (error code = 0x80040154).
Check the event log and verify that the required services are running.

All services for Exchange are running and I rebooted the server. Any ideas that you can give to what is going on would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The blue arrow being there in a normal state is a relief. But what about the asterisk next to the Exchange MTA queue folder.  All of the rest of the queue folders have green check marks?  There is no pile up of mail in any of the queue folders.  Thanks

Hi Wynand,

Thanks for the reply. I have Exchange 6.5 (build 7638.2 SP2). I thought the same thing about the "Microsoft Exchange MTA stack" service not running, but it was running before and after I rebooted the server. I even restarted the service later in the day. I do notice when I expanded the window there was a column that says "STATE" and the entry is listed as "NOT AVAILABLE" whereas all of the rest of the queues say READY.

We did start a migration to the cloud. Maybe the Microsoft Migration utility took over that service. I just never noticed it before, Thanks.
