laptop does not connect to internet wirelessly but does wired??
I have a Sony Viao running win 7 pro. This machine connected to the internet wirelessly OK in China but have arrived back home for xMas and tried to connect to parents network. It is fine if connected via the ethernet cable but not wireless. My parents have laptops which connect fine to the wireless router. My laptop finds the router OK and shows connected and have entered the security key OK and good signal but no internet. Please help

You guys were on the right track. Obtain and IP address automatically was checked but the use the following DNS server was also checked for some reason. Checked the obtain the DNS server automatically and all was good. Thanks for your help. Awarding 50/50
:) Great. well manual ip mean ip + dns. glad you are live now:)
I would check for any static settings on the wireless adapter
make sure your IP info it is getting when connected is correct.
Outside of that
can you connect wirelessly testing on any other networks - like at a starbucks, etc.
