Getting XP Guest to communicate with Windows 7 host

I am running a Window 7 x64 host with VMWare 7.1.3.  I have an XP SP2 x86 guest VM with NAT networking, as well as several Vista SP2 x86 VMs (both NAT and bridged).  My problem is that the XP guest will not recognize the host's share areas, or at least not all the time.  It will communicate for a while if the host has been recently rebooted -- then stops.  None of the Vista VMs has this problem.  I know that later versions of Windows are suspicious of XP, and getting them to talk can be a bear, but they *are* talking -- just not persistently.  Any ideas on how to make the connection persist?

Does it have any antivirus firewalls on it ?
If not stop windows firewall service and see if you still have the problem.

I have been running solution for several hours, and the connection between host and guest has not "timed out".  This is exactly what I was looking for.

Many Thanks.
