A wireless router works both ways as a radio receiver and a radio station.
The most important aspect is a secure (encrypted) signal sending and receiving.
Also consider a wireless-G band router, as a mature technology vs. wireless-N, promised to be faster.
While D-Link's open source approach has to be notified, Linksys proves to be a far superior brand,
specially the WRT54GL .
Why ?

* stability of the radio signal
* strength of the signal (works in a large house thru walls, ...)
* customizable for gaming ports.
* 2.4 GHZ band (wireless-G)

you can check which mode your wireless network card support from here..
in your PC go to device manager and choose your wireless network card and right click
choose properties
in properties page choose advanced tab you will find the there the properties available in your card
in property box scroll down till you find wireless mode
it is always use default if you remove it you can find which mode supported by your card.

For a production and mission critical environment, I wont use both Linksys or Dlink. both of them are home user devices. For production environment, use Symbol (motorola) AP5131 wireless devices, which is guaranteed and very stable. I remember you cannot get any other devices other than these two. This is just for information
Cisco Linksys E3000
The Linksys E3000 is the first advanced router that's also easy to use for novices. It provides great wireless performance and has a good set of useful networking features. Its mediocre NAS performance and limited guest networking feature make it significantly less than perfect, however.

Price: $145.00 - $190.94 (check prices)

Cisco Valet Plus Look no further than the Cisco Valet Plus if you want to get a robust wireless home network up and running effortlessly.

Price: $89.96 - $149.99 (check prices)

Netgear WNDR3700 RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router (Premium Edition) The Netgear WNDR3700 RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router is a great dual-band router for networking enthusiasts who also want a quick and easy network storage solution.

Price: $149.00 - $149.99 (check prices)

Linksys by Cisco is good option. I am using Linksys E3000 from last one yr. no problem find. It is easy to configure too. It has USB port for centralized file sharing with built-in UPnP AV media server too.
It has Network Magic Software means you can see & diagnose your network easly. Depends on your pocket, you can compair some models from here : http://home.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/linksys/

So its means for best performance linksys is better than d-link? is it rite?
Yes imz-en. I will go for Linksys for best performance.
My 2 cents.  I have had a linksys router at home for almost 10 years - no problem.

If i changed my wireless network default settings and change it to n rather than b or g? Will it affect on internet speed?
