RSG Message Store Won't Mount after Successful Restore

I created a Recovery Storage Group and selected the database I wanted to restore.  BackupExec performed the restore correctly but in System Manager, when I go to mount the DB, I get an internal error.  From what I have read, it appears that I need to run eseutil /c as the db in a dirty shutdown mode.  My concern is that it will process the logs for the production message store that is healthy and mounted.  The only reason I restored is that I believe a user deleted important info a few months ago and I want to use exmerge to pull the emails out of the old message store.  Can anyone tell me what switches I need to run to get the message store mounted in the RSG?  Thanks.

just to be sure you created the rsg and the database you want to restore in the rsg. I am assuming so since the restore completed. what is the error.

No, the error came after the restore completed successfully, and I clicked on the store to mount it.

1. When you run the ESEutil /c you will do so against the database and logs you restored to the RSG and NOT the production store.  

2. If you don't want to use the RSG you can use a 3rd party product like DigiScope http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp to open the EDB, rollup logs to make the EDB consistent without the use of the RSG and then browse, search, export or recover data.
