RSG Message Store Won't Mount after Successful Restore

I created a Recovery Storage Group and selected the database I wanted to restore.  BackupExec performed the restore correctly but in System Manager, when I go to mount the DB, I get an internal error.  From what I have read, it appears that I need to run eseutil /c as the db in a dirty shutdown mode.  My concern is that it will process the logs for the production message store that is healthy and mounted.  The only reason I restored is that I believe a user deleted important info a few months ago and I want to use exmerge to pull the emails out of the old message store.  Can anyone tell me what switches I need to run to get the message store mounted in the RSG?  Thanks.
