Burning pictures on a dvd

Hello,

I am trying to burn pictures on a dvd and I'm not successful. I have the pictures in a file, took those pictures and copied/pasted them in the dvd then draged the dvd icon from the desktop to the "trash" which turns into my "burn" icon. I am working off and imac but can't seem to get the dvd to work. I need the dvd to work in a standard dvd player. When I view the pictures, I can see them if I insert the dvd in my computer, but when I put it in my dvd player, it says it can't read the pictures. The pictures are all .jpg except I have one .pdf file in there as well. Can you help?

I don't know anything about the iMac, but it sounds very odd that you have to drag things onto the "trash" to start a function like DVD burning.  Shouldn't that normally just dump the dragged content in the trash can?
