Is there a way to hide the useless shortcut icons from the windows explorer folder list?

In Windows 7, windows Explorer mixes up short-cut entries for things like "My Documents"  with folder entries (that have the same names) in the folder list.  This is particularly annoying since th shortcut links all say I'm not authorized to open those folders when I click one.  How to I get this garbage out of the way?

Organize --> Layout gives you a couple of options.  You can remove the Navigation Pane to the left if you like.

Windows 7 doesn't give you a ton of options when it comes to customizing things like that.  And I'm with you 100% - I don't need to see folders like "Music", "Videos", "Libraries", etc on the default view.  But if you customize it the way you want it, it should save that view for the next time you open Windows Explorer.
