PPTP VPN Clients can't resolve hostnames

I've built a new Server 2008 R2 VM and configured it as an RRAS server to serve traveling VPN users. The VPN works on the client side, and I'm able to authenticate with no problem. Once connected to the VPN remotely, I can ping all of my servers' IP's without any difficulty through the VPN.

Here's the problem: I can't ping hostnames. From this, I have deduced that DNS requests are not being resolved over the VPN connection.

I suppose I could edit the host files for every VPN user in order to get hostnames to resolve, but that's not really practical.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Connect to the VPN from one client and do an IPCONFIG /ALL.  What does it list as it's DNS Servers?  Does it show the IP's for your internal DNS servers?

ASKER

I should have thought to check that. It shows the correct DNS servers for that connection.

Just found this out: if I switch to using the FQDN, I'm able to resolve those names.
