Add company in GP 10

Having trouble adding a new company in GP10. I run utilities and create the database. Then it asks how I would like to setup the new company. I can set it up later or use the Rapid Implementation tool/Wizard to set it up.  I can not run this tool because my server is 64 bit.  How can I finish this process without the tool. Thank you

Hi,

You do not need to run the tools to setup a new company.  Once you complete the new company setup process in Utilities, the company is setup.  The last step where you are asked about the Rapid Tools is optional.  If you were importing data from Quick Books or Peachtree, you could use the utilities to import a chart of accounts or customer list, etc.

Here is a link to the Rapid Tools documentation.

Once the company is created in Utilities, you can just launch GP, login as sa, and then configure the company by setting user access, security, posting settings, setting up accounts, customers, vendors, etc.

Let me know if that makes sense and if you have any questions.

ASKER

Is there a way to import all the reports and settings from a different GP company into the new one without using these tools? To allow utilities to add a company I had to remove DYNSA as a user of the Dynamics database and add it as the owner? Will there be any ill affects to this. thanks
Hi,

The Professional Services Tools Library for GP includes a free tool called "Copy Company" that supposedly copies company settings to a new company.

I think I've looked at it briefly, but never actually used it.  I've attached the brochure.

Thanks Victoria, I forgot about that one.

I used the table copy approach a few years ago, but completely forgot about it.

It did work well, but took a bit of preparation and testing.
