When trying to share notebook to the web, i keep getting the error onenote cannot move the notebook to the specified location

Hi,

onenote 2010 windows 7 pro

This problems been driving me crazy.  Trying to sync my notebooks to skydrive but it keeps saying  onenote cannot move the notebook to the specified location.

I tried running in win xp sp3 compatibility mode, did nothing. I also followed the advice in this article: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/addonenote/thread/9fdca57f-f4aa-475a-a686-1b312a60f2a4

ran the winhttp command in cmd and changed http 1.1 setting in IE but no avail.

My environment: I am behind a windows SBS 2k3 server running ISA firewall that acts as a proxy.  Nonetheless, I have all other MS/windows live services connecting and updating fine (i.e. windows live mesh, MSE, etc)

I think this may be a proxy issue or an authentication issue but im not sure.  I'm only using one windows live id on this machine.

Update: its definitely a proxy issue.  I disabled the network adapter which connects to our domain and enabled another adapter that can connect to the internet without going thru our server and isa firewall and i was able to sync. in the middle of the sync, i turned on my work network adapter and started getting the following sync error from onenote: 0xe0000644

anyway to get pass this proxy problem?

I then disabled my work adapter and resynced the notebooks completely.  after re-enabling the work network adapter, when i sync my notebooks now i get the 0x5b4 error: the operation returned because the timeout period expired. (strangely enough i get this error less then a second after syncing, so i guess the timeout period expiration must be <1)

Search the help for which ports etc. skydrive uses and open those ports on your firewall.

cant seem to find that information. All i see is forum posts that indicate skydrive cant work behind a proxy :-/
How are you connecting to SkyDrive? A mapped drive or what?

I haven't mapped it (didn't even know if you could) but I simply go into onenote and go to the share on web. onenote creates a url for the notebook and uploads it to skydrive. in the process of uploading, i get the error specified above.  Could I map the drive and see if that solves the problem?  I often see the skydrive popping up in my network resources...

followed instructions on mapping drive however, even after mapping drives, Onenote will still not sync to the web.

Could i put a rule in ISA to unblock traffic going to docs.live.net on port 443? would that be safe to do?

did some research and decided to allow direct access to the domain *.docs.live.net and was able to sync successfully. however, im unsure if this is safe to do, seems safe since i'm only allowing access to windows live skydrive.  will leave this post up for a few days to see if any isa expert can advise me on my fix, then i will mark an answer.

edit: i allowed direct access thru our ISA firewall 2004

Well the direct access trick worked in the beginning however now its no longer working. I am receiving the following query in ISA when trying to connect:

Failed Connection Attempt
Log type: Web Proxy (Forward)
Status: 995 The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request.
Rule: SBS Internet Access Rule
Source: Internal ( 192.168.16.14:0)

Oddly, there are no errors showing up in the onenote sync status window. Theres just a red no sign on the notebooks. And they only stopped syncing about a half hour ago.  Not sure how to approach this issue.

yea its all up there in those posts but I'll clarift exactly what I did:

Went into ISA and allowed direct access to docs.live.net (I followed the walkthru on this site: http://www.isaserver.org/articles/2004directaccessp1.html )

That failed after a few days so I created a new rule in ISA to allow access for everyone on our internal network to docs.live.net on port 443. Sorry, dont really have the time to post the exact steps i took buttThere are many guides on how to create new rules in ISA to open access to websites on certain ports
