Great Plains 9 year-end payroll update

We're using GP 9.0 fat clients here. I downloaded and applied "MicrosoftDynamicsGP-KB2435593-v9-ENU.msp" onto my computer. When I open GP apps, it says "A product installed on your computer is on a different version than the database version. You will not be able to use the application until this issue is resolved. Use the GP_LoginErrors.log file in your temp directory to assist in resolving this issue."

I understand that I have to somehow update the GP database too but our GP database server doesn't have GP application installed on it. When I try to run the "MicrosoftDynamicsGP-KB2435593-v9-ENU.msp" on the GP database server, it says "The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program..."

How do I resolve this issue?

Here's what I got from the "GP_LoginErrors.log":
Product Name: Microsoft Dynamics GP     Database Version: 90369     Client Version: 90386

It looks like the database version is older than my computer (after I run "MicrosoftDynamicsGP-KB2435593-v9-ENU.msp" file on client computers, all of them are on 90386 version now). It looks like I have to "bring" the database to version 90386 like all clients have. How do I update the database version?
I figured it out. I made my computer acting as a GP app server. Then, I was able to update all tables. Thanks Trackrabbit for useful tips!
