Server Hangs and Then resyncs Mirrored Disks on Reboot

I have an Intel Server at a new client that just to lock up every day. I cannot do anything except power the machine off.  Once the machine comes back up I notice that 2 mirrored sets show in Disk Management as resyncing.

Once the resync is complete the server is fine for a while.

Being a bit rusty in the hardware department, I would like to ask how to verify that Software Mirroring is being used. I wasnt given a lot of time with the server on both visits. If i right click the disks should I get the option to "Break Mirror"

What are the possible causes of this issue?
Drivers? Firmware etc?

There is also a missing Dynamic Disk showing in Disk Manageemnt. I find this strange as all the applications work except for the Remote Access Services which I am sure can be corrected by uninstalling and re-installing the component. COuld this be related to the server locking up.

The Operating System is Windows 2003 Server with SP2 with Exchange 2003.

You should receive the mirror  break message incase you are using disk mirroring
Also if you are not seeing such option then try updating the bios and other related drivers with the HDD firmware

Are you using microsoft dynamic disc's, or do you have either a RAID card or RAID on the motherboard. How many disc's do you have in this machine and do you know what they are used for. We had some major power
problems where I work and it damaged the mirror. I was unable to repair it. I knew which disc got damaged   b y the outage and could pull the disc and it made no difference.
At this point I know dynamic disks are being used.I will be going to the client later today and will have more time available to look at he Raid Card etc. I can confirm that they have had some power problems though.
I havent gotten to the client yet. Can some tell me if a raid 5 volume can be mirrored using software mirroring? The claims to have this in place on the server. I will be onsite early tomorrow morning.

It turned out that there are 2 controllers installed in the server. the onboard controller was a Raid 5 array and the Mirrored DIsk Sets were connected to a SCSI controller for which Software Mirroring was configured. I removed the mirror sets, updated the Firmware for the disks and the problem seems to have gone away for now. I will be recreating the Mirrored sets tomorrow and updating the BIOS. Hopefull the problem will be permanently resolved.
