During Outlook startup, the "root" mail folder is selected and an error msg displayed "Cannot display the folder. Path does not exist. Verify the path is correct"

When Outlook startup, the "root" mail folder is selected and an error msg displayed "Cannot display the folder. Path does not exist. Verify the path is correct"

Please advise how to resolve this problem.

Hi Chris,

Although your solution did not exactly solve the problem, as nothing is wrong with the user permissions, it did make me look at and find what I believe to be the root cause namely, a utility I installed  earlier changed the home page (see attached screen shot).

Please can you advise what the correct home page (default) should be?

Where depends on OS and your own policies so a search for *.pst / *.ost might be best ... but check for example:

C:\Users\<UserName>\Documents\Outlook Files\*pst
