How do I setup a VPN connection between my iPad and my Windows Server 2008 R2?

Hi, I want to connect my iPad to my Windows Server 2008 R2 through VPN both through the local wireless LAN (Netgear CG3100) and through an external Internet connection to the server. The server is running the local DNS, and a webserver through IIS 7.5. DNS is set to connect also the internal LAN clients to the webserver.

Since I am a novice, please advice specifically what has to be set up on the Server 2008 to allow and configure a VPN connection and what settings to make on the iPad icluding wich protocol to chose.

What are you trying to connect to?
I am not aware the iPad can use VPN connection.
Configure windows server 2008 as RAS server.
Assign a user dial in access permission in (AD)
Forward router RAS port 1723, To your windows 2008 server ip (192......)

on ipad use simle vpn solution provided. one you got vpn connected. user RDP to get your windows server 2008 screen on your iPad.

Hi softwaresoft,

Your advice works OK using PPTP. But then what...? The iPad confirms that it is connected, but how do I access any services on the network? How do I set RDP (Remote Desktop??).
