Outlook 2003 compatable with Word 2010?

I am using Outlook 2003 and would like to use the stationary options in email available form Word 2003.   I have an uninstalled copy of Word 2010.  Will it install on Xp Sp2?  And is Word 2010 compatable with Outlook 2003?
Or would it be better to purchase Outlook 2007 or 2010.
What could I expect in the transition of my data form Outlook 2003 to 2007 or 2010?

The reason I'm considering upgrading is so that I can  use the stationary options from Word to format my email in Outlook.
I need to upgrade to Word 2003, or better, to use Word's stationary options.
I would like to produce a business letter format in my email,  which should be an improvement over the scattered formatting of Express.

Will Word's stationary option do this,  or am I wasting time and money?

Thanks,
