Can all laptops nowadays show two different screens?

Today I am running an old Dell XPS which is only capable of duplicating the screen when giving PowerPoint presentations. That is I will see the same screen on my laptop as the one displayed with the projector. Now, PowerPoint has the ability to show the presentation via the projector and at the same time show me my notes for the slide currently displayed on my laptop screen.

So my question is, do I have to look for any special feature in a new laptop to be able to do this (have different screens shown on the laptop and via the projector at the same time), or do all laptop nowadays come with this feature?
