Win 7 You have been logged in with a temporary account...

I have a Win 7 box on a domain...I have full domain admin rights...
I have the Win 7 Local Admin PW...

I was having some issues with the Win 7 box and decided I wanted to wipe out my domain profile and re-create it...

Here is what I did...
1.  Logged in as local admin I renamed my domain account to "jsmith_old"
2.  when I logged in as jsmith as a domain user...I get this error message that I have been logged in as a temporary account...

I have built maybe 12 Win 7 boxes recently and most of them are on the domain with no issues...I have never seen this situation before...

I found this
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/130095-user-profile-service-failed-logon-user-profile-cannot-loaded.html
....but I'm not certain this applies in my situation...
A. There 6 domain accounts on this comptuer and NONE of the domain accounts show as a username.domainname.... eg:    "jsmith.microsoft.com"....

All of our domain names are formatted as firstinitial lastname....eg   jsmith  NOT as   jsmith.microsoft.com  for example...

So...not sure what to do here...I can follow thru the regit edits. but not comfortable that is the solution...

Is there a better solution...???

thanx

Pete...that is the problem exactly...did the regedit thing...

However...in Users I now have an acct called jsmith_old, which is correct...and
I have an account named "John"....

I do NOT have a new account named "jsmith"....even thought I logged in as domain admin with "jsmith" and my domain pw...

something is not quite right here...

The plan was after renaming my old profile to jsmith_old, I would then get a new profile, jsmith...
Then I can copy my desktop etc from my old to my new profile...

thoughts..???

Ok...I got it...

Turns out that I had to delete BOTH the .bak and the original S-1-5 accts...

Splitting the points...Pete got me in the ball park...shahzamm finished it off...

First time I was in this part of the registry...learning is good...!!!

Thanx both of you...
