Using Ext JS 3.3 - CFQueryReader Undefined

I am using Ext JS 3.3 and Coldfusion 9. I am attempting to create an extDirect server side stack by using the sample from Learning Ext JS 2 by Cutter Blades - all goes well until I get to the place in Authors.js where CFQueryReader is instanciated  and the line where the reader is defined generates an error that says "...Uncaught typeError undefined is not a function" - see the code below... Appearntly it can not find CFQueryReader but I have no clue as to why. The ext folder is in wwwroot and the code for the stack is in a sub-directory called memberweb.
Ext.onReady(function(){
  Ext.QuickTips.init();
  Ext.Direct.addProvider(com.cc.APIDesc);
  var dirStore = new Ext.data.DirectStore({
      storeId: 'Hospitals',
      //directFn: com.cc.Hospitals.GetAll,
           api: {
                       read: com.cc.Hospitals.GetAll
               },
          paramsAsHash: false,
          reader: new Ext.data.CFQueryReader({
               idProperty: 'ijid',
                       root: 'hospitals'
          },[
