Old appointments in Outlook 2007 return after deleted

In Outlook I go to my Deleted Items folder. It is full of old appointments. I delete all of these appointments then a little later they repopulate. It is always the same list of appointments. The Received date is always the current date (ie today is 1/3/2011 so received date is 1/3/2011).

The start time is always 12/31/1979 7:00 PM
and the End time is always 12/31/1979 7:30 PM

I just want to delete these items, but they wont go away. Does anyone have any idea what is happening here?

Try Start->Run->"outlook.exe /cleanreminders"

It deleted some of the items, but then about 30 seconds later they all came back.

Outlook uses a cache for Calendars (regardless of you choosing cached mode or not).
Close Outlook. Locate and remove the local OST file (often called Outlook.OST).
When Outlook is opened again - it will re-create the cache.

It sounds like you are deleting from your cache and this is not updating back to the mail server.
So after it checks for updates the calendar items return.
OST files (like PST) can be prone to corruption.
Do you use any sync software, eg Google's Outlook Calendar sync?
Yes - had not thought of syncs. Any Mobile device being used?
ActiveSync needs to be set so that updates on the server are reflected on the mobile device.
Try deleting the profile and recreating it? Also remember to backup your pst before you do that...

I recently installed Google's Outlook Calendar sync. Is there an option somewhere to delete from my google calendar as well as the outlook?
