ESX SERVER CRASH

I had a host running windows esxi 4.0 with a raid card, 3 x 500gb drives. something happend to the host and the raid card and it won't even been any longer. I need to simply grab the data off those drives. I suspect the raid card is gone too.  They are sata drives, is it possible to plug them in to a windows machine and then access the data?

what type of Raid ? if it was a mirror set ; you should be able to get the data back but any other sort of Raid makes this approach impossible since all three disks took part in making the RAID partition for you.

there is one possibility ; move raid controller to another machine , attach the disks and start , see if you can get your data ; if Raid card is gone , give it a shot and replace that part . depending on manufacture it may or may not be able to retrive your data but still there is a chance.

Some manufactures keep the same raid config ; so it doesn't affect the disks and you can replace the raid card at any time but some vendors need to reconfigure Raid card ; that wont be able to recognize your existing raid.

It was a Raid 5.  Guess putting the card in another machine is the only hope and then purchasing another raid card. I'll try the card in another server first.

Stupid question: Since RAID 5 strips shouldn't I be able to get files from each disk just stripped across or is that impossible?
