Hi, I have a problem with the a bove mentioned desktop pc which is It start ok up untill the windows xp logo appear and then it sometimes reboot or shut down and not reboot !! I have read few articles on the site it was helpful but could not solve the problem. I tried F8 I could not get to safe mode , when I press del to get to bios I am prompted to a password , tried and removed the cmos battery but still can not bypass it its an Award bios , I know a website that give you back door to the most manufacturer bios system but for Award bios there are few and I can not risk it and try more than 3 times fearing my system will lock up .

Even in case you did not succeed with removing battery or jumper etc, then i suggest you talk to vendor directly as nowadays the machines quite secure interm of bios and may not be easy to break the security.

Boing40001: Do you just download onto cd or flash and boot from it how do you usually use it ?thank you .
if the AC stays connected -the motherboard still has power (often a LED stays illuminated - even with power off
in that case  -removing the battery does not help much...
be careful with those debug commands - those instructions can be 10 years old !

Ok , I unplugged the AC power then removed the cmos battery waited for 10 min or so and managed to get into bios gr8 , now  its an old pc and has been upgraded to xp it was 98 ,  I am still after the windows logo  comes, again I get a message on the screen saying no signal and it goes black , I could hear every thing running but nothing on the screen , if I have to post a new question I am happy to do that !! I will divide points regarding the bios for sure ,thks
you can use cmospwd starting from a floppy or a usbkey (all the info are on the website i linked before)

The only way is by removing the battery of the bios or to reset the bios via jumber.

remove battery and AC and then press and hold the start button until the MoBo light goes out. hook everything up again and start into BIOS. find the option to reset factory settings and give it a shot. Best of luck and reply with your results, thank you.

Manual for your motherboard - fortunately the password is stored in volatile RAM
See p 29 for password reset - note: you need to change the jumper settings with the power off.
Your question title says the jumper didn't work but none of your subsequent comments mention it.
