Can I move the service console behind the firewall now?

Hi,

I’m running VMWare ESXi 3.5 embedded on a DL380 server co-located in a remote data centre. The server has two physical NIC’s. This is the only machine I have and no other private network exists.

When setting up the server for the first time the Service Console was given one of my public IP addresses and was set up on one of the physical NIC’s.

On the other physical NIC I have set up a virtual network consisting of two segments. Both the DMZ and Internal networks are protected by a virtual gateway & firewall which is attached to this NIC.

My question is: -

Could I now create a second service console on the internal network and then delete the public facing service console?

Is this possible, if so, what things would I need to consider?

Regards
William

Hi

I think I have asked a question so stupid I have misled everyone.

If I move my Service console behind the Virtual firewall running in VMWare and I have a VMWare problem ‘m not going to be able to connect to the service console to fix the issue. Doh....

I really don’t want to do that. A hardware firewall in front of service console is the answer.

Sorry to have wasted your valuable time.
