Using Internet Information Server

Hi

I have a client who has requested a laptop with IIS installed.

I know next to nothing about this but I have had a quick look and found that there is a free 180 day trial download with windows server 2008 R2 available.

I assume from that the laptop would need to be running windows server 2008 to be able to use IIS?

Is it easy enough to set up or are there loads of potential pitfalls?

Can anyone give me a basic heads up on this please.

Cheers.

Please not however that it is not installed by default. You will need to go into add/remove programs or program features to add the IIS Components.

As well, with XP and 2003 something the I386 folder from the OS CD/DVD is required.

Yes.

It's straight forward.
See --> http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/29/installing-iis-7-on-windows-server-2008-or-windows-server-2008-r2/

Yes.

That is an incorrect statement. The laptop OS can be anything. Why would you need a Server OS on a client laptop?

Thanks guys!
Well i guess we are getting into semantics now. ;)  Yes, the laptop OS can be anything listed above in our posts.

As per the duplicate prod platform. I would still go Win7 Pro with Win Virtual PC. Then install 2008 R2 180 Trial.

I thought 2008 R2 was unneccessary??
